International Scout Haltech Rebel LS installation and LS3 swap.

No, it's not a classic Ford Bronco! This is a rare International Harvester Scout.
We did an LS Swap and Haltech Rebel LS installation on this classic. Many customers look to switch to fuel injection when doing an LS swap. During these swaps, there are a lot of considerations and components that need to be changed. Cooling systems, transmission, wiring, fuel system, exhaust. Whether or not the truck has ancillary components like power steering, stereis, or air conditioning influence how long a swap takes (and how much it costs).

This swap had a particular challenge: We had to adapt the LS to the stock Mopar 727 transmission. That's right, the Internationals came with the same transmission that came behind big block Chrysler engines in classic cars like Chargers and Barracudas, in addition to Dodge trucks. In this case, we had to use a custom adapter set, converter, and Scram Speed built kickdown linkage to work with the front mount LS throttle body. It turned out great.
When swapping into an older vehicle, its wise to upgrade the electrical system. Classics came with very low output alternators and failure prone voltage regulation systems. We upgraded this truck with Powermaster alternator and starter. We used an MSD solid state relay for some power distribution duties, and we always prefer to mount the PCM inside the vehicle, rather than in the engine bay. However, the wiring is the single most important part of a swap like this. It is important to do tidy wiring, that's servicable, and looks great. We don't use typical parts-store connectors and ensure that all wiring is neatly routed and correctly loomed.

We used a Holley EFI fuel tank and custom made Fragola fuel system using long-lasting teflon Race Rite crimp style wire for the ultimate in longevity and safety. We had some Aeromotive components sprinkled in, like the fuel pressure regulator. We used our custom bracket that allows mounting the regulator to the master cylinder. This customer chose a GM crate LS3 engine for his build, as he wanted plenty of torque. We custom made a cold air intake to fit the LS3 in its new home.
The Haltech system installs very easily. It makes for a clean, quick installation. Most connections are labeled and the harnesses incuded don't require a lot of adjustment. The built in setup wizard creates a very precise base tune file which got the truck up and running easily. As with the Holley EFI, Terminator, and Sniper EFI systems, we still recommend complete tuning for this system instead of running it on the base file. The driveability is massively improved and the system isnt reulying on the wideband 02 to do all the work!
The factory dash in the International is highly unusual with the gauges mounted off center. The Haltech dash looks great in this setting. It's crisp, easy to read, and mounts very easily. This kit very compeititive with the Holley versions, and works great.

Scram Speed can handle even the most unusual LS and other engine swaps. We do a lot of them! If you've got questions about doing a build or LS Swap of your own, or need parts for your own project, just give us a call! We stock EFI systems from Haltech and Holley, Fragola fuel system fittings and hose, and tons of other great swap components.
